Australia is experiencing a boom in boutique hotels – with their cutting-edge design and tailored experiences, boutique hotels appeal to travellers in search of a sense of connection. Increasingly, consumers are seeking small, luxury hotels which offer a range of immersive experiences, fine food and wine and high levels of service.

I know my eyes should be shut, but I can't help peeking. Flat on my back as I relax into my yoga pose, I stare straight up at the dusk heavens, where the evening star has just flared into existence. As I watch, more stars wink into being.
